Regardless of whether I am designing learning for kindergarten students, graduate students, teachers, principals, or district leaders, I am consistently designing coherent learning experiences that begin with an important human question, engage learners in meaningful experiences before formal instruction, build understanding collaboratively, use scholarship as a tool for thinking, and provide ongoing opportunities for learners to reflect on how their thinking is developing.
The goal has never been simply to teach content. It has been to intentionally design learning experiences that develop knowledge, thinking, and identity simultaneously while creating evidence of that growth throughout the learning process.

Why this work is deeply personal
Because I’ve sat in every seat — as a teacher, a reading coach, a principal, an assistant superintendent, and a parent — I have a unique understanding of the critical pedagogical challenges encountered at every level. This deep and personal experience is what drove me to create The Teaching & Learning Collective.
When needs for reading, writing, and learning go unmet, the challenges grow exponentially. Teachers burn out, parents feel helpless, administrators feel isolated, and students lose confidence. This is unacceptable. My mission is to translate the science of reading and learning into simple, doable practices that fit naturally into everyday school and home routines so children learn with curiosity, agency, and joy.
